IIT-Roorkee to work on energy efficiency with Powergrid Corp

Roorkee: The Indian Institute of Engineering (IIT) Roorkee on Friday signed an MoU with Energy Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID), state-run utility, on power efficiency and sustainable power.

The MoU targets to deliver collectively academic and market/corporate prowess, in developing productive, trustworthy and minimal-value power techniques.

The most important goal of this MoU is to have prolonged phrase association among POWERGRID and IIT Roorkee in the spot of Power Management, the institute explained in a statement.

POWERGRID is a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise and the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) of the nation concerned in Inter-State Electrical Energy Transmission Preparing and Execution.

“We look forward to working together for improving energy efficiency in IITR campus. Energy efficiency is the key to sustainable development and we believe that our joint efforts will bring good results in this area. It will also help us collaborate for research in this area,” explained Professor Ajit K. Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee.

The MoU aims at advancing and implementing power efficiency and sustainable power tasks at IIT Roorkee campus in the mutually agreed parts of area cooling/heating, lighting and followers, water pumping, electrical power distribution, waste to the power, and so forth.

The MoU also aims at carrying out joint Analysis and Growth associated to Power sector.

In accordance to Sanjay Garg, Executive Director, POWERGRID, thanked IIT Roorkee for entrusting their business with this prestigious association.

“IIT Roorkee is the first-ever academic institution for which POWERGRID will be providing cost-effective state of the art energy efficiency solutions. With this collaboration, we believe that there is going to be a lot of learning for our team members too,” he explained.
