A Change.org petition has been launched with the goal of getting President Trump’s cameo appearance in Home Alone 2 edited out of the film and replaced with President-elect Joe Biden.
“Home Alone 2 is tarnished,” the petition reads. “It has a racist stain on it in the shape of Donald J Trump. I petition that he be edited out of the film and replaced with Joe Biden. Nothing ruins holiday cheer like a sexist, xenophobic, race-baiting bigot. For the sake of future generations, Trump must be replaced.”
The petition includes a photo of Biden’s head edited on Trump’s body in the scene in question.
“Nothing says holiday joy and welcomes in the Christmas spirit like the Home Alone movies (1 & 2),” the petition argues. “They are classics that have been enjoyed for decades and will only get better with age. There is no question that, while sharing a turkey dinner on future December 25th, our great, great, great, great-grandchildren will slap their cheeks while screaming, ‘KEVIN!’ and everyone will laugh. Mom will reply, ‘Kevin, you’re such a disease!’”
The effort, which was started by Kevin Broberg, tells Disney that making the move to Biden would “save Christmas.”
“But Kevin is NOT the disease. The DISEASE is in the second film,” the petition reads. “Please, save Christmas. Edit Trump out of this Hollywood classic.”
The petition has yet to gain much momentum, with only 250 supporters as of Thursday morning. Nevertheless, one Twitter user took it upon himself to edit Trump out of the scene.
The petition’s attention comes as there has been a wide-scale effort to deplatform Trump in the wake of last week’s siege of the U.S. Capitol, starting with Twitter and Facebook’s decision to ban the president for fear that he could incite further violence.
House Democrats have taken their reaction a step further, voting on Wednesday to impeach Trump for a second time, this time by charging him with “incitement of insurrection.”
